General tips
Before doing anything linked in studio recording, you have to be sure of what you'll need. It can help reducing waste of time in studio, and save money in the same way.
The pre-production is really important!
- If it's possible, find the title of your song, try to put them in order and minute them
- Just to be sure, prepare your budget for an additional 30% of studio recording if you need it
- Choose your type of recording: analogic or digital recording? Today, it's simpler using digital recording and I recommend it.
- If you need to know of much of hard disc space you'll use, be aware that a minute of 16bit 44khz sound quality (16 bits, 44.1) will need about 5 MB of hard disc space.
- If you need 24 tracks of 4 minutes each, a capacity of 5 MB x 24 tracks x 4 minutes = 480 MB
- It would be great if you know how many instruments you'll need, how you think you'll separate the recording in studio. It can help you to make a structure grid so you'll know when you'll need which instrument for the recording in studio.
